Community: Anglican Patrimony Society (Portland)

Image
Portland has a community in formation. Visit their handsome website at: https://www.ordinariatepdx.com/ While you're there, consider offering a donation to help them along.. Anglican Patrimony Society https://www.facebook.com/ordinariatepdx/ Offer a prayer on behalf of the Portland community. Perhaps something like the prayer below: ALMIGHTY AND EVERLASTING GOD, Who dost govern all things in heaven and earth, mercifully hear our prayers, and grant to this Ordinariate all things needful for its spiritual welfare: priests and deacons to labour in this portion of Thy vineyard; holy, learned, and zealous religious; churches complete in the beauty of holiness. Strengthen and confirm the faithful; protect and guide the children. Visit and relieve the sick; turn and soften the wicked. Arouse the careless; recover the fallen. Restore the penitent. Remove all hindrances to the advancement of Thy truth; and bring us all to be of one heart and mind within the fold ...

Monsignor Carl Reid: (after) Last Mass at Our Lady Help of Christians Chapel

Image
The Ordinariate community of Blessed John Henry Newman has a lovely little Chapel in Sidney, BC. A family has kindly set aside a vacant room in their home for the exclusive purpose of celebrating Mass. There is no tabernacle. A daily Said Mass is held for Saanich Peninsula residents on Fridays at 9:30am . Mattins precedes at 8:45am. The Chapel is well appointed: a simple but stately ad orientem altar with handsome brass candlesticks from the Blessed John Henry Newman Chapel at a former host parish; a sturdy brass lectern and floor candlesticks; credence table; Stations of the Cross. There is plenty of room for visitors. Word has it that Msgr. Carl and Barb landed safely in Australia and are getting settled in. Premature Press Release?

The story... at ACS Blog: https://anglicanorumcoetibussociety.blog/2019/07/01/dominion-day-news-of-fr-kenyons-return-to-canada/ Christopher Mahon As Canadians celebrate Canada Day, historically and still known by many as Dominion Day, some good news for the Deanery of Saint John the Baptist has been announced. Our former dean, Father Lee Kenyon, is being appointed pastor of the ordinariate parish in Victoria, British Columbia , and will be moving with his family back to Canada over the summer in order to take on the assignment in the fall. The timing is even more fitting given that it was also announced today that Blessed John Henry Newman, the namesake of the Victoria parish, is to be canonized this October 13th. News gets around. Sometimes enthusiasm gets the word out before permission is granted. Probably no harm done. Better to ask for forgiveness... ? Victoria is pleased to hear of the possibility of Fr. Kenyon's debut on the Island. We wait for the official c...

Ordinariate Rising: Precious Blood Parish

Image
CWR Image Catholic World Report (Joanna Bogle) has the story: A story of restoration: An Anglican community finds home in the Catholic Church https://www.catholicworldreport.com/2019/05/18/a-story-of-restoration-an-anglican-community-finds-home-in-the-catholic-church/ The renovations include a new marble floor and a new font, an exact replica of the original one that was removed some years ago. The marble floor is in grey and red, the latter honouring Christ’s blood. The sanctuary with its notable baldachino has been completely cleaned and the baldachino freshly repainted. A new heating system—one of the first items to be installed—lies beneath the gleaming new floor. The sacristy with its Victorian panelling and unusual “lantern” window has been restored to its original use and holds an array of good vestments. Weekday Masses, restored to their place in church, are well-attended, as the church stands just across the river from the City of London with its teeming crowds o...

SAINT JOAN OF ARC

Go forward bravely. Fear nothing. Trust in God; all will be well.

SAINT ROBERT BELLARMINE

When we appeal to the throne of grace we do so through Mary, honoring God by honoring His Mother, imitating Him by exalting her, touching the most responsive chord in the sacred heart of Christ with the sweet name of Mary.

SAINT FRANCIS DE SALES

Have patience with all things - but first with yourself. Never confuse your mistakes with your value as a human being. You are perfectly valuable, creative, a worthwhile person simply because you exist. And no amount of triumphs or tribulations can ever change that.

SAINT THOMAS AQUINAS

To bear with patience wrongs done to oneself is a mark of perfection, but to bear with patience wrongs done to someone else is a mark of imperfection and even of actual sin.

MARCUS AURELIUS

There is but one thing of real value - to cultivate truth and justice, and to live without anger in the midst of lying and unjust men.
