Misleading reports about mass graves have provoked hatred toward Catholics, and continue to cause confusion and anger and rob people of the opportunity for authentic understanding and mutual respect.
It is the opinion of this blogger, a person whose immediate ancestry includes two First Nations in Canada, Black and Creole settlers from the Southern United States in the mid-1800s and English peoples, that bad actors - including politicians, so-called educators, and members of the media - have on many occasions deliberately promoted a false narrative to provoke dissension for financial gain or other unjustifiable advantages. Furthermore, the lies that have been told and that continue to be told do a profound disservice to the memory of those who have suffered abuse and who have legitimate complaints.

All the major elements of the Kamloops narrative are either false or highly exaggerated. No unmarked graves have been discovered at Kamloops or elsewhere—not one. As of August 2023, there had been 20 announcements of soil “anomalies” discovered by GPR near residential schools across Canada; but most have not even been excavated, so what, if anything, lies beneath the surface remains unknown. Where excavations have taken place, no burials related to residential schools have been found.
