Alternativae versioni Canadensi a Marco Carney factae.

Just for Kicks When fortune's hand doth turn so cruelly as to bid us remember. Lamentation This we know: hard working Canadian men and women cannot afford housing. In a country blessed with abundance, with vast mineral resources, oil sands, fertile prairies and recovering fisheries, why is it that food and fuel costs are skyrocketing? Young people, having been subjected to one social experiment after another, are melting down in dangerous ways - the horrific Tumbler Ridge shooting should be a sobering reminder of the increasing disintegration and deepening despair. And even a cursory review of local news sites reveals an astonishing level of foreign interference in the national and regional economies, yet deals continue to be signed that give additional access to bad actors . Globalist-socialist-anything-but-noblest? Prime Minister Mark Carney, weekly Mass-goer, successful international banker, inherited the quagmire manufactured by Justin the Apostate. Sadly, it appears that PM Ca...

Leo XIV on Education in MAGNIFICA HUMANITAS

Image
Pope Leo rightly sees the value of forming strategic partnerships with educational institutions. While the section in MH is fairly short, the need to counter the misuse of media and education for indoctrinating people, especially the youth, calls for a constructive and creative approach. It’s not hard to see the harmful effects of political and social influencers trying to push young people into accepting odd ideas that strip away their dignity, but undoing that damage without making things worse is tricky. What’s needed is a set of guiding principles to help educators reshape school cultures in ways that honor the basic dignity of both students and faculty. - - - ENCYCLICAL LETTER MAGNIFICA HUMANITAS OF HIS HOLINESS POPE LEO XIV ON SAFEGUARDING THE HUMAN PERSON IN THE TIME OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE An educational alliance for the digital age 139. In an era when truth is often distorted in order to serve particular interests and communication strategies, the field of education assumes...

Deplatforming the Deplatformers

Image
There is a disturbing trend among some Catholic influencers. They heap negative criticism upon popes and prelates for meeting with those who are in most need of God's mercy. That hostile trend has been growing for some time, now aided by various technologies. It’s true that some members of the clergy act in ways that go against Catholic virtue and deserve to be called out. More on that later. There are Catholic influencers who are angry at the optics of a pope meeting with a female (Anglican) "archbishop." People assume that meeting with someone is part of a conspiracy that includes acceptance of heterodox teaching and practice. Optics - really?! Jesus meeting the Samaritan woman. St John 4:1-42 Jesus protects a woman caught in adultery by challenging her accusers and offering her mercy instead of condemnation. St John 8:1-11 Jesus dined with tax collectors and sinners at Matthew's house. St Matthew 9:10-13, St Mark 2:15-17, and St Luke 5:29-32 "What was Jesus th...

Pastors Help Us Become Saints

Image
Reverent liturgy, including well-prepared homilies firmly rooted in biblical wisdom made accessible. We really and truly meet Jesus and the saints in the sacred Liturgy. Rendered beautifully, mindful of the connection between the earthly and the heavenly Liturgy, we are formed by the Eucharistic Jesus for an eternity with him. Confession: supply formation to assist the examination of conscience, refinement of judgement, clarity of purpose, development of virtue, and dependence on God's grace. God provides the medicine of mercy through Holy Mother Church to help us grow in holiness. We need what the Holy Ghost provides: perspective. Without the grace of God, we can flounder in scrupulosity or wander in indifference. The Light of God is necessary for us to remain vigilant and ready to repent of our sins. If we become full of ourselves, there is no room for God in our lives. Fellowship and a rich devotional life: study and discussion groups that support formation for mission, evangel...

Death By Text Message | A Lamentation

Image
Are those addicted to their phones contributing to a rise in street-level, home, and workplace conflict? Counsellors and professional mediators seem to think so. And the children and youth who have ended their lives due to bullying on social media? And the people maimed or killed by distracted drivers ? BYU/Nystrom & Associates/PT/State Farm | Overuse of cell phones can hinder face-to-face encounters, decrease the quality of relationships, and cause misunderstandings, all of which can have a detrimental effect on communication. Even if a phone is not being used, its presence can provide distractions that prevent people from participating fully in and connecting with others in real-time discussions. 1. Disrupted Face-to-Face Interactions Phubbing The act of snubbing or ignoring someone in a face-to-face interaction by constantly checking or using your phone is called "phubbing". Reduced Engagement Even when trying to pay attention, a part of the brain may still be focused ...

POPE LEO XIV Magnifica Humanitas

Even in the darkest nights, the Lord raises up men and women who refuse to give up, who persevere in doing good, who protect the vulnerable and open pathways to reconciliation. The memory of the saints, righteous people and the oft-forgotten peacemakers, show us that grace does not magically eliminate conflict, but instead it inspires active resistance to evil and an astonishing creativity in doing good (paragraph 211).

WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE

I doubt not then but innocence shall make false accusation blush, and tyranny tremble at patience.

SENECA

Nothing is more honorable than a grateful heart.
