Trinity Tidal Wave

Image
No doubt many of you have read Fr. Zuhlsdorf's essay on the Holy Trinity. Well, here it is again. Read the explanation here at this blog, formatted by yours truly: https://atreasuretobeshared.blogspot.com/p/the-mystery-of-unity-and-trinity-of-god.html Fr. John Zuhlsdorf explains the Holy Trinity Beautifully by Fr Richard Heilman https://www.romancatholicman.com/fr-john-zuhlsdorf-explains-holy-trinity-beautifully/ June 10, 2017 I don’t know what I did to deserve having one of the great minds of the Church serving alongside of me, but I praise and thank God everyday for this wonderful gift. I am speaking about Fr. John Zuhlsdorf (Fr. Z). If you are not reading his blog every day, you are missing out on amazing treasures of our faith, mixed in with a rich sense of humor. I read his blog for most of the years he has used it for his incredible teachings, but we became acquainted once he became aware of some of the bricks I was laying in the “brick by brick” process of restoring the litu

https://www.leafletonline.com/defense-of-the-priesthood-by-st-john-fisher Saints John Fisher and Thomas More: pray for us. http://www.victoriaordinariate.com/blog/men-of-our-blood Collect O God, who didst raise up amongst the English people thy blessed Martyrs John and Thomas to be defenders of the faith and to witness to the primacy of the Roman Church: grant by their merits and prayers that in the profession of one faith we may all be made one in Christ, and in him continue to be at one with one another; through the same Jesus Christ thy Son our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the Holy Ghost, every one God, world without end. Amen.

Worth Quoting: Sheed on the Trinity

The Trinity: Three Persons in One Nature by Frank Sheed In this excerpt from his classic work Theology and Sanity , the noted apologist addresses the “arithmetical problem” of the core Christian doctrine. https://www.catholicworldreport.com/2020/06/07/the-trinity-three-persons-in-one-nature-by-frank-sheed/ The notion is unfortunately widespread that the mystery of the Blessed Trinity is a mystery of mathematics, that is to say, of how one can equal three. The plain Christian accepts the doctrine of the Trinity; the “advanced” Christian rejects it; but too often what is being accepted by the one and rejected by the other is that one equals three. The believer argues that God has said it, therefore it must be true; the rejecter argues it cannot be true, therefore God has not said it. A learned non-Catholic divine, being asked if he believed in the Trinity, answered, “I must confess that the arithmetical aspect of the Deity does not greatly interest me”; and if the learned can think that

Jan Steen : : Prayer Before A Meal circa 1660 AD The Book of Common Prayer (1928) BLESS, O Father, thy gifts to our use and us to thy service; for Christ’s sake. Amen. GIVE us grateful hearts, our Father, for all thy mercies, and make us mindful of the needs of others; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. "Be Present at Our Table, Lord." Tune: Old 100th from the Genevan Psalter (1551) Be present at our table, Lord; be here and everywhere adored; thy creatures bless, and grant that we may feast in paradise with thee.

Cathlick Fith

Parable of the Weeds by Domenico Fetti Cathlick noun: liberal religion; adjective: comfortable or complacent Fith noun: something that pretends to be faith; undeserved entitlement; unreasonable expectation. Matthew 13:24-30 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field: But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares? He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye t

Time For A Different Lens

Image
As Abraham Maslow wrote in 1966 in  The Psychology of Science , "I suppose it is tempting, if the only tool you have is a hammer, to treat everything as if it were a nail." If the only lens through which you view the world is clouded by fear, then everything you see through it is likely to be viewed as a threat. It seems clear that the current situation is dominated by individuals, politicians and institutions, notably secular media organizations, that are preoccupied not with a rational concern for the facts but are dominated and dominating others because they are paralyzed by irrational fear. Face it folks - the secular media, on a good day, has difficulty representing accurately the facts, whether it is a fact of law, of medicine, of religion, of art. The media are woefully lacking expert journalists who can represent the facts dispassionately in an organized and compelling manner. The secular media own a huge share of the burden for creating an alarmist environment

Apostles' Creed Ordinariate Style

Image
Members of the Personal Ordinariate are familiar with the following version of the Apostles' Creed. The Creed is here ordered into twelve articles, which is a common thing to do. I believe in God the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth: and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried. He descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead ; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead . I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy Catholic Church; the Communion of Saints; the Forgiveness of sins; the Resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. CCC194 The Apostles' Creed is so called because it is rightly considered to be a faithful summary of the apostles' faith. It is the ancient baptismal symbol o
