Parish Peculiarities & The Jester

Fiction?

A progressive parish priest has initiated a series of initiatives to foster welcoming and to enhance active participation at Malady of the Intractable Deception Parish in Chicago, IL.

From the Parish Bulletin:

Pope Francis has said, "All religions are paths to God."  Even if non-Magisterial in nature, we at OMotID take Francis' comments to mean that everyone—baptized and unbaptized—is welcome to receive communion at OMotID parish, for in religion there is neither muslim nor buddhist, transgender nor therian, furry nor otherkin.  Galatians 3:28-29, The Tim Walz Bible.

Thursday night birthing classes will be offered for people with uteruses.

Parishioners will be invited by the celebrant to extend their hands toward the altar during the consecration.

The Lord's Prayer will be prayed using gender neutral language.

Non-binary divine power, your name is beyond names. We seek your way; your will be done on earth as it is in that state which we acknowledge to be a form of perfect bliss. Share with us the power to enlighten us to find the means of sustaining ourselves in mind and body, and help us to live in conformity with the norms that make us socially acceptable, as we compel others to conform to those same standards. Spare us from those who confront us with annoying facts, and help us to live unburdened by what has been.

God will be referred to as they/them/that/which.

Father Wokeman will be preaching on the first things this Sunday: cryptocurrency, social distancing, Yoga Pilates, and vaccinations.

The Blood of Christ will be given intravenously to cibophobic and stigmatophilic communicants.

After the Homily, during the Preparation of the Gifts, and after Communion, collections will be taken up in support of Harris-Walz ballot-forging gatherings to be hosted at the Parish.

As a sign of unity, everyone will remain standing from the entrance procession until the dismissal. Kneeling is prohibited.

Portraits of Fr James Martin will be posted in parish washrooms to promote his cause for sainthood or his elevation to the episcopate, whichever comes first.

Why poke and prod the woke who are odd?

Common sense is in short supply, and people prone to taking the path of least resistance - the broad path (St Matthew 7:13-14) - must wake up before the damage done to society and culture becomes irreversible and the victims of cruel ideologies multiply beyond number.  A broken society cannot resist worse evils, evils that make men and women disposable.  A society of people who hate themselves and who attain to some invented righteousness inimical to humanness, is a society that is more a prison of inmates prone to fits of debauchery, despair and self destruction.

A clown who becomes a bully when you do not laugh at his antics was never a clown. He was always a bully.

When people behave in foolish ways and have fallen in love with absurdities great and small, how does one call them back to their dignity?  When people have abandoned or avoid the lifegiving truth of the Gospel and have substituted vice for virtue, how does one penetrate the opacity of a mind hooked in some cult-like manner to ideologies that are drugs enslaving the heart to lesser gods?

Surely you jest?

At his own expense, the jester frees his audience to confront the absurdity of their own behavior.

A jester can provoke conversion in a person glued to his fantasies.  The jester uses various tactics to trick the guards into letting him pass so that he may infiltrate and pass behind enemy lines.  He juxtaposes the serious and the absurd.  He foments awareness of and access to the consequences of a subject.  He plays to the heart and to the mind.  He amuses in order to seduce and stroll past the censors.  He might act in a way that creates a sense of pathos, to invite pity or sympathy, or to provoke anger or even confusion, so as to loose someone from the death grip of ignorance and sinful pride.

Joy, which was the small publicity of the pagan, is the gigantic secret of the Christian.  Orthodoxy by G.K. Chesterton. Chapter 9: Authority and the Adventurer.

The truth might be avoided for a time, but it cannot be suppressed.  Ignorance is expensive; truth is free but not cheap.  Go and be a jester, but not a bully. Liberate the oppressed.
