Corpus Christi Mass and Procession 2023 Victoria Ordinariate

Saint John Henry Newman, Victoria Ordinariate, Victoria, BC, Canada - 11JUNE2023

The Ordinariate community of Saint John Henry Newman welcomed guests from Our Lady of the Rosary Parish, Langford and the Victoria Latin Mass community in the procession of the Blessed Sacrament.

Following Mass in the Ordinariate Form (Divine Worship) at the host parish church, the Blessed Sacrament was processed along adjacent streets through Esquimalt township, led by verger Gerald H., and accompanied by song led by the choir.

The procession took place on a beautiful sunny Sunday - thanks be to God! The canopy was borne by members of the Knights of Columbus. Maidens of the community scattered rose petals before the Blessed Sacrament. Two seminarians, and the Rev. Monsignor Peter Wilkinson, joined the celebration along with a Knight of the Order of Malta.

Lantern bearers were Craig W. and David McC. The Papal flag was borne by James A., and the crucifer was James S. The thurifers were Kevin K. and grandson Gregory B.

The procession concluded with solemn Benediction, followed by a joy-filled reception.

Hail, Redeemer, King divine
Author: Patrick Brennan
Tune: ST. GEORGE'S WINDSOR (Elvey)

1.
Hail, redeemer, king divine!
Priest and lamb, the throne is thine;
King whose reign shall never cease,
Prince of everlasting peace.

Refrain
Angels, saints and nations sing:
"Praised be Jesus Christ, our king;
Lord of earth and sky and sea,
King of love on Calvary."

2.
King of everlasting might!
Be to us eternal light,
Till in peace each nation rings
With thy praises, king of kings.

Blessed be Jesus: true God and true man.
