Earth-scorched, he heads for greener pastures? It seems that the Trainman has left the station. Folded shop... hit the trail... sort of. Mr. Bruise has begun a new project. 

Same old same old.

Readers of this blog are well aware of Mr. Bruise's questionable behaviour, a blogger who, until recently, operateth a cumbersome blog, a blog that suffereth exceedingly from explosive verbal diarrhea.

Unsurprisingly, at his departure he fired a few parting shots. A mild threat accompanied his farewell discourse. Namely, that he might post on Ordinariate themes at his new blog.

Continue to pray for Mr. Bruce.

That is, the orientation of the priest at the altar. Its language emphasizes that the gifts set upon the altar—“holy bread” and “chalice of salvation”—are not merely symbolic tokens but the very matter through which the faithful join themselves to Christ’s self‑giving. The Church’s struggle to preserve authenticity often intensifies in particular eras, and in recent decades has surfaced as a tension between so‑called “progressives” and “conservatives.” These labels, borrowed from secular political discourse, obscure the deeper question Newman identified: whether a given proposal represents a genuine development of doctrine or a corruption of it. Political categories shed little light on this discernment, for authentic development preserves the type, principles, and living continuity of the Faith, while corruption either breaks from the apostolic deposit or refuses the Spirit’s ongoing deepening of it.
