Sham Sham On You: Counterfeit Catholicism (Part One)
Fr. Rosica has resigned from Salt and Light Media.
In the desert of his exile, perhaps Fr. Rosica will come to a better understanding of how his practiced indifference to the facts and
cruel actions (toward a particular tradition-minded blogger, for instance) have led many to consider Fr. Rosica a worthy representative of all that is wrong in the Church.
Never Too Late
May Fr. Rosica find a better way to apply himself. The Church could use such a reformed priest to serve the truth and the New Evangelization which has the Apostolic Tradition at its heart.
Fall Out
Damage control is routinely activated to minimize financial losses when an organization attempts to wean itself off its production of shabby fare and shield itself from problematic associations.
Statement of the Board of Directors of the Salt and Light Catholic Media Foundation. June 17, 2019. The Board of Directors of the Salt and Light Catholic Media Foundation has accepted today Fr. Thomas Rosica’s resignation as its founding Chief Executive Officer. Together with our founder, Gaetano Gagliano, Fr. Rosica played a critical role in the founding and growth of this network over the past 16 years. The involvement of many young women and men on our various media platforms has made a positive difference in the lives of many people around the world. We are grateful to Fr. Rosica for his leadership (The priest was reported in March to have misrepresented his academic credentials, claiming falsely in his official biography to have earned an advanced degree from École Biblique et Archéologique Française de Jérusalem. - CNA). Salt and Light Television Network is a great gift (Is it really? The promotion of: Gregory Baum, heretic; heterodoxy; a serial plagiarist... .) to the Church in Canada and far beyond. As the Board of Directors, we stand firmly with the dedicated staff of Salt and Light and we ask you to continue to support them with your prayers and generosity. For the past months, Alex Du, our Chief Operating Officer has ably led the daily operation of the network. Our Board has begun a search for a new CEO who will continue the important work of this Catholic media ministry. During this time of transition, Alex Du will be the interim CEO. - Tony Gagliano, Chair of the Board of Directors, Salt and Light Catholic Media Foundation. (Faithful Catholics have better things to do with their money than support organizations that promote tepid content. If Salt and Light Media stepped up its production of tradition-minded content to the exclusion of warm-fuzzy-feel-good Catholicism-lite, then... .)
Statement from Fr. Thomas Rosica, CSB. June, 17 2019. After 16 years as the founding Chief Executive Officer, I have submitted my resignation to the Board of Directors of the Salt and Light Catholic Media Foundation effective today. It has been a great privilege to work closely with our founder, Gaetano Gagliano, his family, and a dedicated Board of Directors on this media project. I am grateful for the young adults working with us who helped realize Gaetano’s vision for Catholic Television and media. I give thanks for the good that was done and for the blessings received and I ask forgiveness for errors in not properly acknowledging individuals and attributing sources in my writings. (Apology accepted.) I am confident that Salt and Light will continue to grow and bring the flavor ("flavour" - Canadian spelling if you please! P.S. - Please define what you mean by 'flavour'.) of the Gospel and the light of Christ to the world. I thank all who have supported us and prayed for us over the past years. The remarkable Salt and Light staff rely on your encouragement and generosity in the weeks and months ahead. Salt and Light will always have a special place in my mind and heart. Fr. Thomas Rosica, CSB.
Given its tepid programming and blind support for a (hopefully reformed)
serial plagiarist whose heterodoxy-laced work in evidence since his
days as a deacon has flavoured his career, there is little to persuade a Catholic audience that Salt & Light is worthy of support until it, too, finds its way back to the true, the good and the beautiful.

Does the weakening of Catholics' testimony to Christ stem solely from the Second Vatican Council? Council teaching was susceptible to manipulation by rival groups, each keen to assert their claim to magisterial power, given that it was established during a period of revolt. Easy scapegoat. Three tales concerning Annibale Bugnini, the president of the consilium tasked with revitalizing the holy liturgy and the poster child for conspiracy theories, are frequently shared by opponents of the liturgical reform. Some versions even claim that Paul VI was a Freemason or that an impostor took his place. Archbishop Bugnini was a Freemason who attempted to deceive Pope St. Paul VI and compromise the Liturgy. In order to appease Protestants, Bugnini purportedly changed the Catholic liturgy by deleting aspects that were essential to Catholic identity. This assertion is sometimes connected to a comment that Bugnini is said to have made about getting rid of everything that Protestants would find ...
A whale of a time? Well, what do you know? The Ordinary Form of the Mass is under attack once more. By now, word has probably spread far and wide about recent unusual acts, to put it mildly. Sword swallowing priest. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wkLmfuuV6pA&t=75s Whale sculpture in church. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DVKcE3FCC6b/ XANTEN, Germany — Serious concern has emerged after a life-size sculpture of a dead humpback whale was placed inside Xanten Cathedral, one of the country’s historic Catholic churches. The artwork, known as the Cast Whale Project and created by Gil Shachar, now lies prominently in the nave of the cathedral. Church officials say it is meant to symbolize the “vulnerability of creation” during Lent. However, many faithful Catholics view the installation as deeply inappropriate. Critics argue that placing the image of a dead animal inside a consecrated church undermines the sacred character of the sanctuary and shifts the focus away from Christ and t...
Ever wonder what the curious pointed oval shape in religious art is called, the shape that is also used in various designs adopted by guilds and religious groups? That almond shape is called the mandorla, the Italian word for almond. The mandorla is a significant symbol in Christian art and theology, characterized by its almond shape, which is formed by the intersection of two circles. This shape has deep theological implications and is often used to represent the divine presence, particularly in relation to Christ and the Virgin Mary. Symbolic Meanings Divine Presence. The mandorla is frequently depicted as a radiant shape surrounding Christ in His glory, particularly in scenes of the Transfiguration or the Ascension. It symbolizes the divine light and glory that emanates from Christ, emphasizing His dual nature as both God and man. The use of the mandorla in art serves to highlight the sacredness of the figure it surrounds, marking a clear distinction between the divine and the eart...

A PENITENTIAL OFFICE for the BLESSING of ASHES EXAUDI NOS Psalm 69.17, 1 HEAR me, O Lord, for thy loving-kindness is comfortable: turn thee unto me according to the multitude of thy mercies. Ps. Save me, O God, for the waters are come in even unto my soul. Glory be… Hear me… The Celebrant now turns to the people and says: BRETHREN, it has been the custom in the Church from ancient times to observe with great devotion the days of our Lord’s Passion and Resurrection, and to prepare for the same by a season of penitence and fasting. This season of Lent provided also a time in which converts to the faith were prepared for holy Baptism. It was also a time when such persons as had, by reason of notorious sins, been separated from the body of the faithful, were reconciled and restored to the fellowship of the Church by penitence and forgiveness. Thereby the whole Church was put in mind of the message of pardon and absolution contained in the Gospel of our Saviour, and ...
Thrones, also known as Ophanim (Hebrew: אוֹפַנִּים ʼōp̄annīm), meaning “wheels,” are described in Ezekiel’s vision of the merkabah (chariot) in Ezekiel 1:15–21. These wheels are connected to Daniel 7:9, where they are called galgal , often described as “the wheels of galgallin ” in a “fiery flame” and “burning fire.” They are shown as four eye-covered wheels, each formed from two nested wheels, moving together with the winged Cherubim beneath God’s throne. The wheels move in harmony with the Cherubim. The Celestial Hierarchy of Dionysius refers to the Thrones from the Old Testament description as the Third Order of the First Sphere, the other two superior orders being the First Order, the Seraphim, and the Second Order, the Cherubim. CHAPTER VII Of the Seraphim, Cherubim and Thrones, and their first Hierarchy The name of the most glorious and exalted Thrones denotes that which is exempt from and untainted by any base and earthly thing, and the supermundane ascent up the steep. PSALM 37
Keep innocency, and take heed unto the thing that is right : for that shall bring a man peace at the last.
POPE LEO XIV
The right to freedom of expression, freedom of conscience, religious freedom, and even the right to life are being restricted in the name of other so-called new rights, with the result that the very framework of human rights is losing its vitality and creating space for force and oppression. This occurs when each right becomes self-referential, and especially when it becomes disconnected from reality, nature, and truth.
ST AUGUSTINE
The truth is like a lion; you don’t have to defend it. Let it loose; it will defend itself.
SAINT PHILIP NERI
The greatness of our love of God must be tested by the desire we have of suffering for His love.

Knowledge is one thing, virtue is another; good sense is not conscience, refinement is not humility. Liberal Education makes the gentleman. It is well to be a gentleman, it is well to have a cultivated intellect, a delicate taste, a candid, equitable, dispassionate mind, a noble and courteous bearing in the conduct of life. These are the natural qualities of a large knowledge, they are the objects of a university. But they are no guarantee for sanctity of even for conscientiousness; they may attach to the man of the world, to the profligate, to the heartless.

One can be certain that when one is judged by mediocrity, that is, by someone or persons holding to standards beneath the dignity of man, that one will be accused of harassment for merely suggesting that people live up to their potential.

There is but one thing of real value - to cultivate truth and justice, and to live without anger in the midst of lying and unjust men.

If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.
ARTHUR SCHOPENHAUER
All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.
