WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE

I doubt not then but innocence shall make false accusation blush, and tyranny tremble at patience.

Let Sleazing Blogs Lie

It is a grand mistake to think of being great without goodness and I pronounce it as certain that there was never a truly great man that was not at the same time truly virtuous.—Benjamin Franklin

Between the many beautiful oases to be found around the internet there are vast tracts of barren land inhabited by bloodthirsty trolls. The desolation of unredeemed human nature is a resting place for demons.

Isaiah 34:14

And demons and monsters shall meet, and the hairy ones shall cry out one to another, there hath the lamia lain down, and found rest for herself. (DRA)

And wild beasts shall meet with hyenas, the satyr shall cry to his fellow; yea, there shall the night hag alight, and find for herself a resting place. (RSVCE)

The internet is too often a toxic waste dump, rife with members of the grouch-potato club. A blog comes to mind that is a hoard of drifting and condescending rants too often reliant upon gossip and innuendo. It is a cold place, a case of shoot first... and shoot again... ... and again; a place choked with wrath and pretense masquerading as righteous indignation and fact.

Proverbs 22:24-25

Make no friendship with a man given to anger, nor go with a wrathful man, lest you learn his ways and entangle yourself in a snare.

Proverbs 20:3

It is an honor for a man to keep aloof from strife; but every fool will be quarreling.

A Case of The Common Cold

For whatever reason or reasons the author of that cold place chooses to attack others, one can be sure that, given the frequency and kinds of attacks, the author of that cold place appears to derive a twisted pleasure in what he does. It is equally clear that the author of said blog cannot take the heat of any responses to his messays (mess+essay). There is no combox at his place; no debate, no heat. Truly, it is a cold place.

Postlude

Indeed, before criticizing another person's behaviour, one should first examine the blog in one's own eye. (Apologies to all for the pun.)

St. Matthew 7:3-5

Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.

Hopefully, my reflection on the mission statement of this website will contribute to a sufficient examination of conscience which corrects any assumptions by yours truly about yours truly being above reproach.

Knowing our faults, our grievous faults, may we all receive God's mercy and forgiveness. Thanks be to God for the Sacrament of Penance!

Even in the darkest nights, the Lord raises up men and women who refuse to give up, who persevere in doing good, who protect the vulnerable and open pathways to reconciliation. The memory of the saints, righteous people and the oft-forgotten peacemakers, show us that grace does not magically eliminate conflict, but instead it inspires active resistance to evil and an astonishing creativity in doing good” (paragraph 211).

It is bad enough that so many people believe things without any evidence. What is worse is that some people have no conception of evidence and regard facts as just someone else's opinion.
