Observations Human dignity stands as one of the most enduring pillars of moral and political philosophy. It asserts that every person possesses an intrinsic worth that precedes all social arrangements, legal systems, and cultural norms. This worth is not granted by the state, nor earned through achievement; it is inherent, rooted in the very fact of being human. To affirm dignity is to recognize that each person is a moral subject — capable of reason, freedom, and responsibility — and therefore must never be reduced to a mere instrument of another’s will. Dignity does not exist in isolation. It unfolds within the fabric of community, where individuals live, act, and pursue their flourishing. Pope Leo rightly sees the value of forming strategic partnerships with educational institutions. While the section in MH is fairly short, the need to counter the misuse of media and education for indoctrinating people, especially the youth, calls for a constructive and creative approach. It used to be that people on the left of the political spectrum gave emphasis to social support systems but not to the detriment of assisting personal responsibility and positive business practices that empower people. The New Israel In Catholic theology, “the New Israel” primarily means the Church—the people of the new covenant established by Jesus Christ—understood in continuity with God’s covenant with Israel. The New Covenant The Church is “New Israel” because the new covenant promised by God is fulfilled in Christ: Israel’s election is not erased, but the covenant reaches its definitive form in Jesus.
