For the truly mad are those souls devoured with ambition, while the faithful and loyal are called fools. Anthony Esolen

Father Bux calls out "a shameless falsification".

Fr. Nicola Bux, former consulter to the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith, weighs in on the Fiducia fiasco and the incremental attempts to insert confused teaching into the Church.

Readers should take note of the clarity of Father Bux's challenge. Such precision and faithfulness to Tradition is an example that all Catholic clergy should practice. All clergy - from priests to popes.

Finally, it is worth stating that the blessing, in Hebrew berakah, as a spiritual and sacred act, commemorates, praises the presence of God and intercedes, so that his power descends on the person or object and sanctifies them; presence and descent can be traced back respectively to Christ and the Holy Spirit: as, in the sacraments, anamnesis and epiclesis. The blessing nourishes and expresses faith, through the sign of the cross and the sprinkling of holy water. The blessing is a sacramental, that is, an extension of the grace of the sacrament, which to be received requires a good disposition to receive the main effect of the sacrament to which it is ordered (see Catechism of the Catholic Church, a. 1667).

Given that the blessing is not compatible with a state of sin - one cannot bless what disintegrates, consumes, destroys - to which sacrament is the blessing of an irregular couple ordered? It is not true that the blessing does not promote or justify anything, because it implicitly promotes "disorderly acts" and pseudo-union. In the text of Fiducia Supplicans, the expression "blessings of same-sex couples" explicitly occurs seven times: but there is no same-sex couple, because they are similar, and similar ones make a pair, not a couple.

Therefore, there is no blessing that is not liturgical, when it is done by an ordained minister, who exercises the munus sanctificandi with and in the sacred liturgy, in the name of the Church. The Vatican News article (CLICK HERE), therefore, is deceptive and constitutes a shameless falsification, perhaps with the intention of pleasing the court.

“The drama of the Church today is the separation of the pastoral from doctrine, that is, of love from truth,” Father Bux says. “And we are paying dearly for it, as John Paul II predicted.

“Pope Francis should cancel Fiducia Supplicans and replace the prefect with a man of ‘sure, sound and pure doctrine,’ to use the Apostle’s words to Titus.”

The right to freedom of expression, freedom of conscience, religious freedom, and even the right to life are being restricted in the name of other so-called new rights, with the result that the very framework of human rights is losing its vitality and creating space for force and oppression. This occurs when each right becomes self-referential, and especially when it becomes disconnected from reality, nature, and truth.

Knowledge is one thing, virtue is another; good sense is not conscience, refinement is not humility. Liberal Education makes the gentleman. It is well to be a gentleman, it is well to have a cultivated intellect, a delicate taste, a candid, equitable, dispassionate mind, a noble and courteous bearing in the conduct of life. These are the natural qualities of a large knowledge, they are the objects of a university. But they are no guarantee for sanctity of even for conscientiousness; they may attach to the man of the world, to the profligate, to the heartless.
