Catholic bloggers:
  1. invite others to faith, into a loving communion with Jesus Christ and His Bride, the Church. No believer in Christ, no institution of the Church can avoid this supreme duty: to proclaim Christ to all peoples The Holy Spirit is indeed the principal agent of the whole of the Church's mission... as can be clearly seen in the early Church: in the conversion of Cornelius (cf. Acts 10), in the decisions made about emerging problems (cf. Acts 15) and in the choice of regions and peoples to be evangelized (cf Acts 16:6 ff) (Para 21). An essential characteristic of missionary spirituality is intimate communion with Christ (Para. 88). Pope Saint John Paul II: Redemptoris Missio.
  2. think with the Church (sentire cum ecclesia). “Thinking” with the Church begot us at Baptism; “thinking” with the Church finds one of its filial expressions in faithfulness to the Magisterium, in communion with the Pastors and the Successor of Peter, the Bishop of Rome, a visible sign of unity. Address of Pope Francis: Plenary Assembly of the International Union of Superiors General
  3. pray as they write and write as they pray. May my meditation be pleasing to him, for I rejoice in the Lord. Psalm 104:34.
  4. fully inform themselves before attempting to inform others. Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, equip you with everything good that you may do his will, working in you that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. Hebrews 13:20-21.
  5. educate to elevate. The greatest kindness one can render to any man is leading him to truth. Saint Augustine.
  6. invite others to discover the true, the good and the beautiful. Hans Urs von Balthasar maintained that the best evangelistic strategy is to capture people with the beautiful, then enchant them with the good, and then lead them to the true. Bishop Robert Barron.
  7. will the good of others. To love is to will the good of the other. St. Thomas Aquinas (I-II, q. 26, art. 4).
  8. communicate lovingly the truth. Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ. Ephesians 4:15.
  9. invite conversation, not confrontation for the sake of confrontation. Am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still pleasing men, I should not be a servant of Christ. Galatians 1:10. We destroy arguments and every proud obstacle to the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:5.
  10. debate the facts; challenge falsehood. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true), and try to learn what is pleasing to the Lord. Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. Ephesians 5:8-11.
  11. are joyful people who appreciate a sense of humour. These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full. John 15:11.
  12. never elevate themselves at the expense of another. Luke 14:11 For every one who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.
  13. love trolls by not feeding them. Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest you be like him yourself. Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own eyes. Proverbs 26:4-5. But I say to you that every one who is angry with his brother shall be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother shall be liable to the council, and whoever says, ‘You fool!’ shall be liable to the hell of fire. Matthew 5:22.
  14. identify their sources and never plagiarize. Thou shalt not steal. Exodus 20:15.
  15. accept fraternal correction, admit to error and learn from their mistakes. I tell you, on the day of judgment men will render account for every careless word they utter. Matthew 12:36.
  16. know where the door to the nearest confessional is located. Perfect contrition (CCC1452) arises from love, imperfect from fear of punishment. Imperfect contrition (CCC1453 attrition) is even a gift of God, and an impulse of the Holy Ghost. Council of Trent: On the Most Holy Sacraments of Penance and Extreme Unction (IV).
  17. offer God - the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost - all glory, thanks, honour and praise. Ut in omnibus glorificetur Deus (So that in all things God may be gloried). 1 Peter 4:11
