Copycat Clergyman
A prominent Canadian priest, a critic of tradition-minded Catholics and adversary of a certain blogger against whom he threatened legal action for merely being held to account for his misbehaviour, that priest, Fr. Thomas Rosica, media mogul and pundit, is brought down.
Fr. Rosica's apology smacks of more than a hint of self absolution.
“I take full responsibility for my lack of oversight and do not place the blame on anyone else but myself.”
Father Rosica's fraud is his own:
Father Rosica's fraud is his own:
"Father Thomas Rosica has resigned from the governing body of the University of St. Michael's College, following news of his extensive plagiarism."- SOURCE
In light of the various revelations, will Father Rosica's "extensive plagiarism" affect the credibility of Salt & Light Catholic Media Foundation, the organization he founded? For many tradition-minded Catholics, Salt & Light Television lost the last shred of its credibility when Father Rosica presented a doting interview with his mancrush Gregory Baum.
(T)he scale of the plagiarism suggested deeply ingrained habits—those of an insecure and systematically dishonest writer. And the “apology” seemed calculated to minimize the crime in three ways: Though he said he was sorry, he also insisted his plagiarism wasn’t malicious, he described it as unintentional (an unfortunate accident resulting from sloppy research habits), and he blamed it on others (some of his material is drafted by “interns”).
From a priest who should know better, this is worrying. [...]
