For those familiar with this blog, punning is routine, a lighthearted way to spread a tactic that robs weaponized language of its power and influence. The devil (and his minions) can't stand to be laughed at. Saints, on the other hand, are able to laugh at their clumsiness and learn from it. May it please the saints that this latest case of punographic mirth be an opportunity for others, starting with yours truly, to examine the conscience and grow in holiness. May it please God, His angels and His saints, that the following rain of cheesy puns water not the weeds of schadenfreude.

Like many a politician who thinks himself invulnerable, and as impeccable as the Blessed Virgin, and imagines a certain a day of judgement (foreshadowing the Day of Reckoning) will never arrive, and who thinks himself immune to criticism, deserved or not, a certain governor, imagining he has wings, believes he can fly above and beyond the approaching storm.

If pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall, then a certain governor had better make sure his legal parachute is in good working order. Gravity is a terrible and unforgiving handmaiden that spares few its downward pull culminating in a very messy end. Gravity: the court of public opinion; mob rule.

Will his progressive (c)atholic allies come to his rescue? Will CNN massage his reputation and come to his defense? Probably not, but the Church still has plenty of room for sinners... repentant sinners.

Cuomotion

A cuomotion ensues when someone boasts of his or her superior amorality morality while committing (allegedly) baleful acts.

Locuomotion

The phenomenon in which a politician changes his or her position over time, or is forced to change his or her position. See derailment.

Cuomore-or-less

1) calculations that always add up to debt; 2) power imbalance.

Cuomosexuality

A deviant condition common among Democrat politicians who vigorously signal their virtue but still behave like the bullies they condemn (e.g., by blaming their alleged victims or anyone who challenges their sophistry). See hypocrite.

Cocuomo

Copycat tune by a Dem politician mimicking a certain fun-in-the-sun California group's song. Cocuomo contains adult themes, including 'creepy old guy (allegedly) hitting on young staffer', 'cafeteria catholicism is cool', 'self-declared devout (c)atholic but personally and publicly idiotic', etc.

Cuomodo Dragon

Large land reptile known for its reportedly aggressive behaviour toward vulnerable women.

Hocuomo

Ghost town in upstate New York inhabited by former governors accused of impropriety. Not to be confused with Hocomo, a small unincorporated community in Howell County, Missouri.

Walking Through The Mass: the Credo

Attendees of the Ordinariate Mass habitually pray the Nicene Creed during the Sunday Mass. Since becoming a regular at the Ordinariate Mass, I am reminded every week how blessed we in the Ordinariate are by having a beautiful translation of the Creed to pray. While still a diocesan Catholic, I remember with joy and satisfaction the introduction of the revised (some might say a restored) English translation of the Creed for the Ordinary Form of the Mass. When I left diocesan precincts for the Ordinariate, I found the Credo as prayed in Divine Worship (DW), the Mass of the Ordinariate, to be awkward at first, though strangely attractive. The DW version motivated me to slow down and revisit each phrase.
