Meditation And Prayer For A Transformation Of Society

Meditation
from Psalm 65

Blessed is the man whom thou choosest, and receivest unto thee : he shall dwell in thy court, and shall be satisfied with the pleasures of thy house, even of thy holy temple.

Thou shalt show us wonderful things in thy righteousness, O God of our salvation : thou that art the hope of all the ends of the earth, and of them that remain in the broad sea.

Who in his strength setteth fast the mountains : and is girded about with power.

Who stilleth the raging of the sea : and the noise of his waves, and the madness of the people.

from Psalm 67

GOD be merciful unto us, and bless us : and show us the light of his countenance, and be merciful unto us;

That thy way may be known upon earth : thy saving health among all nations.

Prayer

Omnipotent God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, Who doth know the very hearts and inward longings of all souls, we do beseech Thee most humbly to make manifest Thy power and mercy. May all nations be guided toward righteousness and concord, the wicked be restrained, and the innocent flourish. Give strength and clarity of mind to Thy witnesses to enlighten those whose lives have become shrouded in darkness, so that each society may turn from ignorance and violence to embrace the Gospel of life; through Jesus Christ our Lord, Who liveth and reigneth with Thee, Father, and the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end. Amen.

The truth is like a lion; you don’t have to defend it. Let it loose; it will defend itself.

From EVENSONG 22 JAN Psalm 109 Deus, laudem

HOLD not thy tongue, O God of my praise : for the mouth of the ungodly, yea, the mouth of the deceitful is opened upon me. And they have spoken against me with false tongues : they compassed me about also with words of hatred, and fought against me without a cause. For the love that I had unto them, lo, they take now my contrary part : but I give myself unto prayer. Thus have they rewarded me evil for good : and hatred for my good will. Though they curse, yet bless thou : and let them be confounded that rise up against me; but let thy servant rejoice. Let mine adversaries be clothed with shame : and let them cover themselves with their own confusion, as with a cloke. As for me, I will give great thanks unto the Lord with my mouth * and praise him among the multitude. For he shall stand at the right hand of the poor * to save his soul from the unrighteous judges.

MARCUS AURELIUS

There is but one thing of real value - to cultivate truth and justice, and to live without anger in the midst of lying and unjust men.

If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.

ARTHUR SCHOPENHAUER

All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.
